Hello and welcome to Anaktó Gear. Allow me to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about where the idea for Anaktó Gear started and why.
My name is Mark, I have a background in graphic, 3D and industrial design. I’ve also been working in the 3D printing industry for about 10 years. As long as I can remember I’ve always enjoyed designing and making products. The idea for the Anaktó product line comes from my other passion of rock climbing.
I started rock climbing at Devil’s Lake in Wisconsin when I was 18 with a couple friends. I’ve been in and out of the sport since then, but in 2015 I became more serious about the sport again and started lead climbing in the gym. Later having opportunities to climb with new climbing partners in locations like Petenwell Rock outside of Necedah, Hillbilly Hollow and Red River Gorge.
I’ve always been excited about buying new climbing gear, so when it came time to buy my first stick-clip, I went with the Trango Beta Stick Evo. Some of my other friends had paint poles with a Metolius Superclip added. After trying both, I realized I really didn’t like the Trango head but I loved how adjustable and compact the pole was. This is when I started designing an adaptor that would replace the Trango head with a simple thread like the paint pole that I could screw the Superclip to. At first it was just that, super simple, no hook or eyelet. The hook idea came, when on a number of occasions, I or my climbing partner forgot to unclip the 2nd and 3rd draws after finishing a route. I thought to myself “A hook would make this a lot easier to retrieve the rope”.
The word “Anaktó” is from the modern Greek word “ανακτώ” (anaktó) translates “to regain” or “to recover” or “retrieve”. I went with Anaktó after thinking about the reason for the product and why I created it. I search for other words that could mean “Retrieve”, looking at other languages and even combining words. I ended with Anaktó for the meaning of the word, how it sounds and the pattern the letters make, I especially like the “acute-O”.
There are currently four versions of the adaptor.
- Reevo | This one replaces the Trango Evo head so you can add a Superclip
- Skoúpa | This one adds a hook/eyelet to a paint pole setup (Greek for “Broom”) 🙂
- Pro | This one works with GoPro mount selfie sticks
- Selfie | This one works with selfie sticks that have a 1/4-20 thread that are typically used for other action cams
One of my friends likes to carry a more compact stick-clip when she is working on a hard project, aka “clipping up” the route. the Pro and Selfie work great with a couple lightweight selfie sticks for this.

As part of my love for the sport of climbing, I’m giving 20% of all sales to the Access Fund to help keep our favorite climbing area open and safe.
